Proposes Unconventional Space Power to DARPA
Spacedesign has proposed a unique device for solving a problem with
future spacecraft. Traditional Spacecraft design has relied primarily on
photovoltaic battery systems as a power source. Over the last five
decades, these systems have consistently evolved to provide the increase
in efficiency and specific energies required by changing spacecraft
designs. The present state of the art system is, however, approaching
the maximum theoretical efficiency achievable. The Unconventional Space
Power proposal by Spacedesign proposes using an alternative power device
in a form other than photovoltaic solar cells.

04/29/03 - Release of
TSS V11.01 Revision D
Revision D of TSS V11.01 is now available. Major bug fixes are
incorporated into this latest release which include an ellipsoid update.
Only ellipsoids with a 360 deg gamma direction are affected, all other
ellipsoids worked properly in previous versions. Other minor fixes to
the RENO to TSS, IGES to TSS, and TRASYS to TSS translators are also
included.
Several fixes to the polygon are also included. A check to assure that a
polygon is convex (i.e. fan check) has been added.
Proportional heater has also been added to the Spacedesign Sinda/Fluint
3.3.

08/31/02 - Release of TSS
V11.01 A Better Earth
The latest version of TSS revolutionizes ray-tracing speed by advancing
Oct-Cell technology. Often an after thought for most thermal engineers
was optimizing the Oct-Cell method to enhance ray-tracing speed. In the
newest version of TSS Oct-Cell optimization is automatic. In previous
versions, memory and CPU time usage was exponential as the number of
Oct-Cell levels increased. The revolutionary Advanced Oct-Cell method
linearizes memory usage and CPU time while optimizing the Oct-Cells,
truly a WIN-WIN for our industry.

Redleader, Government TSS Support will Continue
NASA Johnson Space Center has exercised the 2nd option to the TSS
Support and Maintenance Contract with Spacedesign. One notable change in
this upcoming contract year is the removal of the monthly TSS Users
Group meeting. This change is due to Shuttle Operations budgetary
constraints.
